Paisajes fragmentados

Bosque Sonoro

Bosque Sonoro 2018

The MAM presents a unique architectural virtue: it has five domes in the two buildings. These surfaces are an involuntary and artificial sound amplifier, since it can not be said that the architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez was aware of this quality in the enclosures he designed, or that he deliberately built with an acoustic function. Recall that the History Gallery (1960), located in the Bosque de Chapultepec, and the Art Museum of Ciudad Juárez (1962), have very similar domes. Visually impressive and structurally singular, they are at the same time imposing convex architectural elements of fiberglass and polyester resin, which allow the acoustic behavior of the space in which they find themselves to be a challenge and an ideal opportunity to present sound activities.

* Sensation that allows the listener to identify auditorily the space in which it is.

Bosque Sonoro 2017

For the fifth year in a row, the MAM presents Sonorous Forest, a series of sound improvisation and experimental music with a program focused on interdisciplinarity and the history of contemporary music. For this 2017 proposals were selected that start from an instrument or a "conventional" device.

Heterofonías. ensayos sobre una voluntaria y parcial ceguera

The 2016 Bosque Sonoro project cycle celebrates the diversity of proposals that privilege the dissemination of sound practice and the exercise of listening in innovative formats that take into account the particular architectural and acoustic space of the Museum of Modern Art.

Transdisciplinary poetry, vernacular instrumentalizations with contemporary possibilities, sound activations, whispers of the body, audible gesticulation, dissected movement, sensual vocalizations and immersive environments are some of the formats that we will be able to listen to during this year.

The surrounding space, the individual auditory capacity, the use of technology, are presented as variants that combine to unveil unique and unrepeatable acts and thus, create evident bridges between the listener and the author, to vindicate the former, to elevate it to the status that corresponds: be the recipient, the decoder.
